2025 Window restoration

In the period from 1.05.2025. to 31.10.2025. in cooperation with the State Cultural Capital Fund (VKKF), the project “Restoration of the 2nd floor of the Bīriņu Manor House’s residential building. South-facing window” was implemented. Financial resources allocated by the VKKF Council – 5,000 EUR.

2024 Process digitalization

The project “Support for the digitalization of processes in commercial activities” is being implemented in 2024, funded by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) within the framework of the Latvian Recovery Fund. Supported activity: resource management processes. Solution: a new kitchen accounting program has been introduced.

2023–2026 · Garden Pearls II

In the period 01.10.2023. – 30.09.2026. Within the framework of the Estonian-Latvian cross-border cooperation program, the project EE-LV00038 – Garden Pearls II is being implemented with the aim of promoting the recognition and accessibility of parks and gardens to the wider public. The accessibility of Bīriņu Pils Park will also be improved and the main entrance to Mežaparks – Emīlijas aleja will be arranged.

On December 26, 2017, Igo and Thomas Klein visited Birini Castle with a Christmas concert program. The concert also featured the new song “12”, co-written by the two artists.

2016 · Tomb restoration project

In cooperation with the VKKF and the Bīriņu Castle Cultural and Historical Heritage Preservation Society, the project “Development of a restoration project for the Bīriņu Manor Tombs” in the amount of 2,000 EUR was completed on 26.07.2016.

2016 Window restoration

On March 30, 2016, the restoration work on the northeast window of the second floor of Bīriņu Castle was completed thanks to funding from the State Cultural Capital Fund in the amount of 2,200 euros.

2015 · Castle Gate and Assembly Hall

In June 2015, the works within the project “Renovation of the cultural and historical parts of the Bīriņu Manor – Castle Gate and Meeting House” were completed in accordance with the ERDF funding agreement between the Central Finance and Contracts Agency and SIA “Saule Bīriņu Pils”. Total project costs 52,451.89 EUR, eligible 44,948.31 EUR. Support intensity 50%.

2015 · Balttour – Enter Gauja

On the weekend of February 6-8, 2015, as part of the international tourism exhibition “Balttour”, at the exhibition center “Ķīpsala”, the Gauja National Park stand “Enter Gauja” invited visitors to discover the new castle and manor offer “Hidden in the Great Silence”.

2014 · Horseback riding trails

The works of the project “Establishment of a horse riding trail in the Bīriņi Castle Park” No. 14-09-L31300-000012, funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, implemented in Bīriņi Castle, were completed on 28.12.2014.

2014 · Inventory of premises

On December 18, 2014, with the support of the State Cultural Capital Foundation, an architectural and artistic inventory of 7 rooms of Bīriņu Castle and a survey of the interior decoration were completed. During this, several ornamental drawings and the unique painting of the former library were discovered on the walls of the rooms.

  • By the decision of the Ministry of Culture of August 15, 2014, the project “Renovation of the cultural and historical building parts of the Bīriņu Manor – Castle Gate and Meeting House” was approved. In accordance with the European Regional Development Fund financing agreement between the Central Finance and Contracts Agency and SIA “Saule Bīriņu Pils” No. 3DP/3.4.3.3.0/14/APIA/CFLA/011/003, renovation works will be carried out in the autumn of 2014 and spring of 2015 at the object “Bīriņu Manor Building” (state protected No. 6455), restoring and preserving the building part of the manor – Castle Gate and Meeting House, as well as installing amenities for people with special needs.
  • The project “Establishment of a Horseback Riding Trail in the Bīriņu Castle Park” No. 14-09-L31300-000012, financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, is being implemented in Bīriņu Castle. The project envisages the creation of a horse riding trail with several functions, starting and ending at the historical Stables of Bīriņu Castle, improving the nature trail section in the Landscape Park with rainwater drains, installing lighting in the darkest section of the trail to extend the season, creating new and modifying existing fences in the paddock and building a decorative rabbit hut near the Stables building for a more interesting and safer viewing experience for all Stables residents. The new service is a continuation of the diverse and innovative development of nature trails. The project implementation deadline is November 28, 2014. Total project costs: EUR 22,887.38. Source of financing: EAFRD funding of 10,828.31 EUR and co-financing by SIA “Saule Bīriņu Pils”.
  • Whit Sunday, June 8, 2014 – the annual Whitsun celebration at Bīriņi Castle. The event was attended by about 2000 guests and the weather was kind to us all, allowing us to fully enjoy the Holy Week, the paintings, the flourishing park and the Great Schläger Concert-Green Ball 2014. We invite you to reminisce throughout the year by watching the filmed fragments of the celebration on the “Slagerkanala”.
  • The concert “Moonlight” as a great Christmas gift together with Igo, Aivars Hermanis and Raimonds Macatas will be performed at Bīriņi Castle on December 26, 2013 at 6:00 PM. Additional concert at 4:00 PM. The program includes compositions jointly created by Igo and Aivars Hermanis, as well as world music classics arranged by Aivars Hermanis on guitar and Raimonds Macatas on cello. Thinking about the Christmas season and preparing this program, Igo has recorded the song “Moonlight” with music by Aivars Hermanis and poetry by Aspazija.
  • Bīriņi Castle is implementing a project financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, entitled “Creation and improvement of SPA outdoor relaxation areas in Bīriņi Castle Park” No. 13-09-L31300-000010. The project includes improving paths and walkways, installing lighting on the paths in the terraces of the castle lake, and creating a square for enjoying the wide panorama of the terraces during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is also planned to create new recreation areas in the park and build a small gazebo with relaxation chairs, creating diverse recreational opportunities for visitors. A creative painting workshop will be created in the castle park, giving the castle guests the opportunity to work creatively, reflecting the beauty of the castle and park around them, and to acquire a unique souvenir of their visit to Bīriņi Castle. The project implementation deadline is December 23, 2013. The reconstruction work was carried out by SIA “Uzars bruģēšana” from Ozolnieki municipality. Total project costs: 61,436.23 LVL. Source of financing: EAFRD financing 50% and SIA “Saule Bīriņu Pils” co-financing 50%.
  • The meeting of the Presidents of the Baltic States and the President of the Eurogroup took place at Birini Castle on October 31, 2013.
  • On February 10, 2012, the Birini Castle Hotel was awarded the Q-Latvija quality certificate.
  • Every spring comes not only with white daisies in the playground, but also with extensive cleaning work. As every year, we re-pave the wide park paths for the reception of guests and are happy for every helping hand. This year we had fun, energetic and enthusiastic helpers – on April 30 from the Gaiļezers Hospital team and on May 4 from the Swedbank Sakta branch, who, despite the changing weather conditions, managed to work hard and relax a little. And now we are waiting for guests to enjoy the confusing intoxication of lilies of the valley and irises in the well-kept surroundings of the Castle. May 5, 2011
  • Bīriņu Pils participates in the employee training project thanks to the EU activity “Support for employee training to promote the competitiveness of enterprises – support for training organized in partnerships”. The beneficiary of the funding “Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association” has concluded an agreement No. L – APA-10-0017 on November 22, 2010 with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency on the implementation of the project “Training project for employees of enterprises in hotels, restaurants and related sectors”, which is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
  • On January 8, 2010, Igo performed at Birini Palace with their concert program “Inhaled”.
  • In 2009, exterior shots for the popular Latvian TV series “Ugunsgrēks” began to be filmed at Birini Castle. Along with the cast parade, each episode also features shots of the Palace lobby. We wish the wonderful filming team every success!
  • At the end of October 2008, Birini Castle received a plaque of honor for being awarded partner status in the European Commission’s “Green Light” project. The project aims to reduce electricity consumption, air pollution and global warming.
  • The details of the gazebo on the lake terrace were renovated in the summer of 2008. Assistance in the renovation was provided by the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Cultural Monuments.
  • Starting in 2008, the Jūlija Bīriņu Castle Hotel has been expanded with 2 Tower Suites, 3 Deluxe rooms, and 3 standard rooms in the Castle building.
  • In 2007, thanks to the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and the State Cultural Capital Fund, the restoration of the windows of the Bīriņi Manor Castle building was carried out. We would like to express our special gratitude to the State Inspectorate for the support provided in the reconstruction of the Bīriņi Manor Castle building and stable.
  • In the spring of 2007, the museum “20th century memory chambers” was established on the second floor of the Dzirnavu café.
  • The restaurant Bīriņu Pils in the Vaulted Hall with a fireplace opened in 2006. Welcome!
  • In 2006, with the support of the State Cultural Capital Foundation, an artistic study of the premises of the first and second floors of the Bīriņi Manor Castle building was carried out, as well as the strengthening of the Bīriņi Castle gates.
  • On May 25, 2005, Birini Castle received the “Cultural Heritage Annual Award 2004” as the best Cultural Monument Owner.
  • A special piano made by Latvian craftsman Kārlis Engīzers has found its home in Bīriņi Castle. We would like to thank the donor, Rūta Lukstiņa. During the period of independent Latvia, this piano was presented to her father Ādolfs Lukstiņas by the Bīriņi Parish Council in 1924 for his selfless work.
