Small architectural forms

The oldest gazebo has been preserved since the mid-19th century and is located on the edge of the regular garden of the palace by the lake. It was renovated at the beginning of the 21st century by slightly expanding the front area, which does not change the appearance of the gazebo when viewed from the balcony of the Palace, but slightly lengthens it from the side view. Small romantic stairs are located in the back side of the gazebo and will take you right to the water’s edge. Today, the Lake Gazebo is popular for wedding ceremonies and countless YESes have already been said in this romantic place.

The Spring Hill gazebo is located in Emīlija Park at the very top of Spring Hill. It was installed on the site of a former spring, which stopped flowing when the water level of the nearby Lauga swamp decreased as a result of land reclamation. The gazebo offers a beautiful view of the first Augusta pond below, which has retained its round shape. You can also see the sculptures of Eņģeļkalns and, turning to the NE, even the castle.

Very close to the Castle, just behind the Garden House, next to the herb beds and a blooming magnolia, there is a new wooden gazebo. It was built in 2013 as part of a project funded by the European Agricultural Fund. The garden house gazebo was made by local craftsmen and features lounge chairs, which offer a view down through the maple trees on the slope to Lake Dzirnavu.

The area also features the red brick entrance gate of Bīriņi Castle, the white entrance gate to the Castle building, the Mellin Gate leading to the Sēru Alley, obelisks at the Castle, a stella to Emīlija in Emīlija Park, bridges, and the stairs of the Regular Park.
