Picnic in nature

The Mill Locks are the most popular picnic spot in Birini Castle. It is located next to the locks by the lake with a fire pit, two log tables, and benches.

It is located at the back of the mill building, where a wooden floor has been built, a retractable roof for the terrace and a cast-iron cauldron for the fire. This forms an almost closed courtyard and there is an entrance to the lower floor of the mill from the terrace. Tables and benches can be rented for an additional fee.

The Watermill Meadowside Picnic Area is located by the lilac hedge on the edge of the Watermill Meadow. It has 2 permanent tables with benches, but instead of a campfire, you can use a grill if necessary.

It is worth getting out into nature with friends, family or colleagues and enjoying a winter picnic in the fresh air, by the white sparkling snow and a hot campfire, sipping mulled wine and snacking on something warming and comforting. And if you also go sledding, you will ride on the ancestral carousel on ice – the lézē… For a winter picnic, the Bīriņu Pils restaurant offers soup cooked on a campfire, as well as options with mulled wine and grilled meats.
