Castle building
The main dominant of the manor ensemble is the Bīriņi Palace building, completed in 1860, designed by Riga architect F.V. Hess, a student of Riga Stock Exchange architect H.Bose. Its architectural solution can be attributed to neo-Gothic. In turn, eclecticism and a variety of color contrasts prevail in the interior.

Castle creators
The builders of the castle are August von Pistolkors and his wife Emilie (Herder). August writes in his memoirs: “…my Emilie and I set to work with great love. All my strength was directed towards creating something lasting and beautiful for our Fatherland. My house was my world…” August von Pistolkors.
The most luxurious are the halls and lobby of the castle, where the original carvings and decorations have been preserved, as well as the stoves, the castle’s high ceilings and windows.

Castle tower tour
An interesting adventure will be a tour of the Castle Tower. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to walk along the roof walkway, climb a few floors of the castle tower, and be rewarded with a view from above over the lake, the park, and even a stork’s nest.
